What Is Counted Needlepoint?
Think counted cross stitch, but on a needlepoint canvas. You start with a blank canvas and a digital chart, then translate the design from one to the other. Trust me, it’s easier (and cheaper) than it sounds!
1. Download your chart
Print it at home. Every chart has a color key and a symbol key.
2. Grid your canvas
Find your starting point on the chart and mark it on the canvas. (Some stitchers paint their canvases first, but I’m a gridder.)
3. Start stitching!
Follow the symbols one square at a time and watch it come together.

Needlepoint Without the Sticker Shock
Hey, I’m Abigail! I started Charted Stitches Studio because I wanted to stitch heirloom stockings for my family and discovered that traditional canvases cost $300-$400 EACH not including threads. Multiply that times 4 and that was far beyond my budget.
Not only were the hand-painted stockings outside of my price range, I couldn’t find a design that I was fully in love with. I’m a DIY-er at heart and figured I could create my own. I started with one chart, my Christmas Tree Stocking, and fell in love with the process of designing, thus Charted Stitches Studio was born!
